Critical Moment focuses on five subjects in two perceived groups.
On the far left, a woman is obsessing over her phone as a second woman is deep in thought. In front, you have three friends walking close together while looking directly at the viewers.
The leftmost woman is separated by no-passing stripes on the roadway, drawing contrast to the other four, who are grouped together. The four on the right show earlier painted layers through their clothing as a unifying aspect. In contrast, the far left subject is entirely retouched to represent affluence and privilege.
